Our proposal
We are proposing to build Canadian Extreme Multi Sport Park for Vancouver Island, possibly including the following; Alternative fuels and energy testing for vehicles and a greener planet. We want to incorporate as much green energy as possible when building the park and to help sustain the park for many years and to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible. We would love to have a college on site to teach and learn the alternative energies available and maybe unknown at this time, a volunteer Fire/search and rescue station for the park, An amphitheater for local and big name bands/concerts as well as for local schools to use for plays and music and such, a retro drive in theatre, a state of the art series style go-cart track and general cart rentals, Road race course for both cars and motor cycles and maybe even one for each, We want to have as many courses/sports as possible so there is always something to see and do in the park, and to return the most revenue possible for the park so we can keep it open year round. Maybe a small water/amusement park for kids of all ages, possible drop off daycare/fun care center for park guests to drop their smaller kids at while the parents/guardians enjoy the park. World record capable true 1/4 mile ZMAX style NHRA or IHRA legal drag strip with a long enough shut down run out to have world speed records set at near sea level, we would like to have state of the art slow-mo high speed cams at the launch to 60 ft for a great tool for racers. Friday night drags to keep street racing off the streets. Dirt style oval track, a paved oval style track so we can maybe someday invite Nascar to come to our track, auto cross, a Indy car track, Super Moto cross track, and we would love to invite the trick riders like the Red Bull X games, rock/hill climbing for 4x4s and bikes/Quads, everyday off roading area for the love of 4x4ing, A Jr drag school for up and coming young racers, and maybe invite Monster truck Jams, eco style sports/leisure such as suspended walk ways and zip lines, lawn bowling, disk golf, maybe a soccer field, extreme mountain biking, BMX track, hopefully a wind tunnel for skydiving simulation and a wave rider machine for surfing on. We would have a stocked fishing pond as well as we will have a water collection system in place anyway's for irrigation. Camping and R.V parking/camping. Big BBQ area for fresh local foods. We have gathered information from Port Alberni drag race week end Thunder In The Valley from 2004 and the economical impact to the community, hotels/motels/restaurants/gas bars etc…was $731,250. To $1,250,000 and these numbers have grown every year since! We have contacted Mission Raceways and were told they bring in over $4 million dollars to the community per year but could have brought in substantially more for the community if they could have held National events, but they do not have enough property for the parking for the racers to come to the event with all their trucks and trailers. The city of mission has a population of around 35,000 similar to ours. We would have on site camping for the racers and camping for the fans and public as well. Castrol raceway is just south of Edmonton Alberta in a town called Nisku, they informed me that they bring in around $25 to $30 million dollars into the Edmonton community, They host 3 big NHRA events a year and just one of those events brings up to 30,000 people to the area over a 5 day stretch. Edmonton has around 730,000 population, Vancouver Island has around 750,000 population so why couldn't we have 30,000 people come to our park for a weekend? We believe our community needs this boost as well. This is a long term viable and definitely a renewable resource for our community for years to come. We would like to put in a volunteer fire/rescue station that could be used by the search & rescue and fire departments. With all the other venues we would like to offer we should be able to run the park 12 months a year which will benefit all the local businesses of the community that the park is built for years to come . We predict that within 5 years the park could bring in easily $30/50 million dollars a year into the community that the park is built and including the entire Island. We would need to employ anywhere from 100 to 200 full time employees and maybe more and the local charities would benefit greatly !!!
Just a little about us
Well here is a little about us. We are a group of drag racing nuts that need a place to do what we love, Race. Eric Harper who has lived in Campbell River his whole life, and who has built and raced his own 70 Duster 440, then moved on to starting a business called Harpers Performance Tuning , thus providing a chassis Dyno for the rest of the power hungry gearheads to run their cars on as a measuring stick so to speak. Tuning for max performance possible with what they have. Just so they could go to the mainland to race? And me, Andy DeRoover the guy that build our web sites so if there is a problem its all my fault! I used to live and race with the boys and girls over in Vancouver when there was still a track in langley, it was a lot of fun untill they shut us down because the town moved in around them. Mission Raceways has always been an awesome place to go and get my fix as well. I very much enjoy going to Port Alberni's Thunder in the Valley when I can too. I moved to C.R about 17 years ago and that's when I met Eric and his unfinished 70 Duster 440, I even helped him finish building that awesome beast,a few pics of it from our other web site www.harpersperformance.com There are a few other pic's and vid's of some awesome cars on that site that are mostly from Vancouver Island. I have worked on many race cars, hotrods and regular street cars over the years and have been to many race events in Canada and the United States, but would love to have a place to watch some awesome racing right here in our town or any community on Vancouver Island where this will be built. We have been talking for many years about building a track up here, so here we are, trying our best to get this idea off the ground. We are looking for a few good people who would like to invest in Vancouver Islands future. Where would you like your company logo or name? At or near the start line? Contact either Eric or Myself Andy (the web page making dude and co owner) so we can take this next step for Vancouver Island together.
Thanks for your time, and don't get any on ya !! Andy
